i have both...direct tv for hi-def programming. dish network for everything else.

I've had Dish for about 4 years and I love it.

My father has Direct and I hate the interface for the listings and such.

Plus the package I have is quite a bit cheaper than his with as many if not more channels.

Watch for one of those deals where they give you extra receivers and such.... with either one they're quite a bit more expensive after you're a customer (just like cell phones and anything else where they like to give away equipment to get ya)

Dish TV they are starting to add most local programming in also, at least around here they are.

I've had ABC and FOX on my Dish for years. Now I can get NBC and CBS also... I just need to upgrade to the new receiver.

The best part is that the new receive will do 10 hours of recording on it's internal hard drive.... the old one I have will only do an hour. They both do live TV pause too (great feature for when the phone rings or you walk away to eat dinner. It just time delays whatever you're watching until the channel gets changed.
